when the soldiers come home

...it was a bittersweet moment filled with roars of excitement as the motorcade came into view. three buses filled with our local soldiers slowly pulled into the parking lot filled with anxious family members and friends...i got to help welcome two family members home from Iraq today. it was a small little ceremony at the Sun's stadium in Frederick, due to the rain. either way, our soldiers were coming home...

as our brave service men and women stepped off the bus, i couldn't stop myself from tearing up. my uncle stepped off first, followed by my cousin, and as soon as i saw them both standing in front of the crowd, the water works started. i really can't explain the feeling that i felt at the moment...a little bit of sadness, anxiousness, nervousness, and happiness all rolled in to one. i wanted to run through the crowd and give them both the biggest hugs and squeeze them tight and as i looked around, i sensed that every single person in the crowd wanted to do the same. it was as if the heavens felt the same emotions, because as soon as it was time for the family and friends to be reunited, it started to rain. "what a beautiful day to come home to" said my cousin Mark. but the rain didn't matter, our soldiers are home...

All that can really be said is WOW! These pictures are completely amazing… just like something that would be found in a Time Magazine. You have captured a moment in time that is filled with emotion and that makes us proud to call ourselves Americans. *TEARS* There are two photos that really stand out: 1) the picture with the little boy (Holdy) with the flag flying high. Perfect! That picture right there, show us military personal exactly what we are fighting for. Our land is free because of the things our soldier sacrifices. These soldiers are our: mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, wives, husbands, sons, daughters and friends. Their sacrifices are the time spent apart from family, the things they have seen, and sometime even there lives to save a foul soldier. That takes me to #2) the picture with the little boy and I am assuming his father. This picture shows a new journey in their lives. Amazing, completely AMAZING! You have a talent, one that you should be proud of. You also have a beautiful family. Best of luck to you and your family’s new journey together. ~ A US Soldier

Sorry about this, but I used the wrong wording above "foul soldier" that should be "fellow soldier". I feel so bad for messing up my words. However, I solemnly swear I can fire a weapon much better than I write.
