a fun project to bond over

cool huh? j and i collaborated on a project today (and bonded a little). we saw this great tutorial from this beautiful blog and immediately wanted to try it. a couple of weeks later(today), we found ourselves at a craft store, picking up items to start it. we used red patterned paper for the background and also red wood stain for the sides (it looks rather orange in the photo though). these will a great addition to our bedroom as soon as we get the stuff to hang it up with.

we're hoping to make more pretty soon as a present for J's sister. she has two young boys and this would be perfect for their house. i'm also thinking about making these as a present for my grandparents...a silhouette of all their grandchildren...there's a ton of them, so i'll either have to find a huge plaque or put all of the silhouettes in a big frame. here's what i'm kinda talking about. have fun crafting!

I'm new to Blogger, so feel free to come by and leave a comment! I write mostly poetry and the very occasional short story. If that interests you at all, check it out!
