I'M BACK!!!

i've actually been back for quite sometime now, but it has been busy around here in Pretty Little Fings world.

Sunset Beach was fun! it is a nice little island in North Carolina (the southernmost part of NC), about 20 minutes from Myrtle Beach, SC, so we got the best of both worlds...some quiet time on the beach, and the lights and sounds of Myrtle. our friend Jess' family took us in, fed us, and treated so well, i almost didn't want to leave! we stayed in a really nice beach house with a "bird's nest" (balcony) at the top and that's where you could easily find the boys at the end of the night. i took a ton of pictures, so it will be quite some time before i get them on flickr...but cause i know how some people might get anxious, i've prepared a couple for you. take a look and see...

one of the attractions on this island is to go to the Kindred Spirit mailbox on Bird Island, which can only be reached during low tide when a tidal creek that separates the two islands goes down. we rented beach cruisers and ventured down to the mailbox...

apparently there are two mailboxes and some how we missed the first one and found the second one sticking out among the sand dunes (a local told us there were two, so we believed her)...

in it, there were pens and notebooks filled with thoughts, prayers, stories, and notes. i guess it's kind of like a free for all...you could even keep your entries anonymous! the four of us sat down around it and wrote in it. afterward, Jess and i took a little hike up the dunes to see the other side of the island and we all got back on our bikes and headed towards the end of the island, and then home for the most yummy dinner that her grandma prepared.

if you're ever in that area, i recommend that you visit the mailbox. it's not anything extravagant, but it's amazing what you might find in the notebooks (the view isen't bad either!)...who knows, maybe you could figure out which entry was mine!
