Happy Earth Day

Happy Earth Day!

this is a shot taken through the viewfinder or TTV. i just recently became very interested in this type of photography (thank you Splityarn!), so after of a couple of failed bids on Ebay for a decent camera, J got one for me from Etsy. look at this beauty!

for those of you who are not familiar with TTV, it is when you take a digital camera and take pictures through the viewfinder of another camera. usually you have a build a contraption to block out the light, etc. i found an amazing tutorial here, by Russ Morris (thank you, by the way). i read it and i instantly got hooked. below is my take on the contraption.

i didn't exactly follow Mr. Morris' directions (i'll go ahead and admit that i wanted to build it fast so i can start taking pictures!), so that's why it looks very wonky (and it has places where the light leaks in). i promised myself i will try it again, but this time, make an esthetically pleasing contraption.

here's one of my favorite shots thus far...

my eyes have been glued to various Flickr TTV group pools ever since i decided to try my hand at it. check out what others are taking pictures of through their viewfinder here! i also have my first batch of pictures up on Flickr as well! happy looking!

These are so great! What a cool effect! I miss Shepherdstown's arty contingent so much. Life in Georgia is so language-heavy art-light. Must amend. Anyway, awesome photos.
