what's up?

here's what has been happening...

- i spent most of the day yesterday with Meg doing girly thangs...lunch, shopping, talking, reading and taking naps in the middle of the evening, AND! i got to watch an Army Wives marathon...now i'm hooked!

- i just signed up for a summer postcard swap, organized by Andrea from Hula Seventy. (what a pretty blog huh?)...anyway, i just realized that i really like swaps, so when i found out about this (sorry i forgot how i found out), i had to be a part of it. you can too cause the deadline isn't till June 15th!

- J & I went to a Mustache and Lipstick party last night...

my lovely friend Audrey artfully drew this stache on me with liquid eyeliner.

...i would show you J's REAL mustache, but it's way too creepy for the internet.

- i also just joined in on a "meme". it's called "This is..." and every wednesday, someone posts an answer to the question, for example: this is...my favorite book...and i will have to post the my answer on the following sunday. get it? ...uh...here's a link explaining what i'll be doing...well, at least i think i'll be doing it. i'm still waiting for a reply...

- we bought a portable air conditioner today. thank goodness! i was burning up and could hardly stand it even with the fans going. imagine what Remy felt like, huh?

- tonight J and i went up to the Black Thorn Gallery in Mechanicsburg, Pa.

i tagged along as J was invited to a friends and family opening party of this art gallery/tattoo shop. they have a pretty cool set up going on...gallery in the front, shop in the back. it's located on the main street of Mechanicsburg, so the building's got a lot of character and a quirky layout.

- i had to whole weekend off without asking for the first time, and to be totally honest, it felt really good! essentially, i'm having a four day weekend cause i'm off tomorrow and tuesday. but i still have so much to do! my list (on a Red Robin napkin holder) is pretty hefty and i'm slowly crossing things off...starting tomorrow!!

Finds in Frederick

it was rather refreshing to be out in Frederick for a change. this morning after getting up, we got a chance to walk around Market Street and enjoyed the beautiful weather. we stopped at a place called Bagel Creations (i think!...they also make an awesome pizza with pretzel dough...we were lucky enough to have it the night before) and had a delicious breakfast sandwich made with a freshly baked bagel. i LOVE bagels!

realizing that none of the stores opened till 12, we walked around and saw some interesting things. i guess as a part of the May festival they had yesterday, the sidewalks were decorated with shop logos and other arts.

the most interesting ones were in front of Classic Electric

this was too funny to pass up. someone just stuck these googly eyes on a window in front of this poster.

when the stores finally opened, i felt like a kid at a candy store. "oo, lets go into that store!" we went into Retro Metro where i found these monster jar made by a local artist...

and bought this cute little salt and pepper shaker.

i ended up really liking this store and i can't wait to go back! i can't believe how much Frederick has grown. walking around town and seeing dogs everywhere made us miss Remy, so we headed home to see Kristen and Victor.

they took such good care of Remy! they all went hiking and Kristen even bought her a cute new collar! she's all tuckered out now and has been sleeping since we've been home. thanks guys!

now that we're home, it's back to cleaning and doing laundry...not my favorite things to do in the world but it needed to be done. tomorrow i'll show you the pile of fabrics i got today to start on a new batch of birds. i was going to finish sketching and maybe even get started on them tonight, but we overslept while napping. i hope everyone's had a great day. i know i did! see you tomorrow!

my mom's gonna get me for this...

it's funny how your mom can still get mad at you when you get a new tattoo...even if you're twenty-three and living on your own. my mom said she'd kill me if i got another one, so to make her happy i told her that the last tattoo i got was the last one...ever! little did she know, right? don't get me wrong, i love my mama very much, but this is my body and if i want to turn it into an art gallery, i can! with that said...i got this little beauty on the inside of my arm today...

Thomas Kenney is such a great artist! this is my fourth piece from him so far, and i love everyone of them! you can check out more of his stuff here...it's been quite some time since my last tattoo, so i forgot what the process was like and got a little nervous...but it wasn't too bad, considering this is the biggest one i've gotten thus far. i'm so glad i finally got this piece done cause it's been floating around in my mind for a while now.

on another note, i got a little crafty tonight and made this...


it has been a while since i've gotten crafty, so i started cutting up some fabrics and sewed them together. i didn't know what it was going to be until i got to the middle of the project...it's pretty much a glasses case, like the ones i've been making, but with a different layout. i added a tag to the bottom of it just in case i give it away. i love this print! it's a lot of red, but i think it looks pretty darn good. don't you?
