and here we are again, me sitting back on my very green couch and you doing whatever it is you do...
today marks the 5th anniversary of the start of our war with Iraq. i really can't believe it has been that long. in years before, there were people with posters protesting the war at the main four-way in she-town, today, it was quiet.
i guess everyone made it a point to trek to Washington to really make it count. although protesters were absent, there were other things that i found interesting while C and i were on our little morning walk (luckily before the rain started). but first, let me give you a little rundown...She-town, like i've mentioned before, is a small liberal arts college in West Virginia. a good bit of the inhabitants that i've had the privilege of coming into contact with are pretty mellow people. you know, stop mountain top removal, lets protest, lets simplify, no war, all for fair trade and world peace kinda people (which aren't bad at all)...
the first thing i saw on our walk was this old school Hummer parked in the neighborhood...
i guess i was just naive that someone who lives in town would drive a Hummer anymore. help me out here, could you tell me how much the gas would cost in such a thing?
our next surprise was this stop sign here that someone had taken the liberty to practice their freedom of speech on...
look closely, it says "stop Democrats"... this surprised me cause i would think that it should have said "stop republicans," instead, since some people aren't for war and all.
now, as we were walking down the main street, C and i got the pleasure of meeting a man...and his pet bird. i think it was a parrot or a macaw. now if he had an eye patch and a pipe he'd be a real life pirate...darn!but mind you, he was such a good sport. i mean, would you have been the least bit friendly if a little Asian girl with a baby and a camera popped out of nowhere and asked if she could take your picture? i was actually pretty proud of myself cause on a normal day, i would have totally missed this Kodak moment. i would have whipped out my camera when we was already gone! yes, no lie, the world's slowest photographer...as i've been told.
by this time, we were well on our way towards the house, and as we were walking on a back street, i caught a glimpse of this...
i saw this and i immediately needed someone to tell me what was going on. it's funny, yet makes me question the story behind it at the same time. i wonder if any passerby has ever knocked on their door to ask. well, probably not, it's she-town after all...
too bad it started to rain, who knows what else C and i would have found had it been a beautiful day.

i came home to a mini surprise tonight. J had bought me some cookbooks while he was out...oh, and i finally got my new copy of the April/May issue of Ready Made Magazine, which i absolutely love! (scream!)
i can't wait to bury my nose it all three of these cookbooks. hopefully i'll find something i can whip up and write about.
as usual, it is getting late. looks like we're trekking up to Lancaster, Pa tomorrow. i'll be so happy when J finally gets his bike. (big sigh) see you again tomorrow world!

I love this blog! She-town rules - gas-guzzling hummers, grafitti spraying republicans, pseudo-pirates and all! Made any recipes from that chocolate book yet? Hrmm?
