5. turn it right side out and stuff it with as much polyfil and love as you can.

This is...

the Witches (based on the Rohl Dahl book) is one of my favorite movie from childhood. i love this movie because at the end, you could see all of the stuff that Luke (the main character) and his grandmother built to suit Luke's size. seeing all of the gadgets really made me want to be a mouse for a little while. i was lucky that it was also my mom's favorite so we would watch it together...ah, memories...

we both have a copy of it, but mine was VHS and it got stuck in a tv (a tv with a VHS slot) and it completely ruined the tv. now when i go thrifting or to a yard sale, i keep an eye out for it, but have been unsuccessful thus far.

-------

my favorite romantic movie is the Notebook (adapted from a Nicholas Sparks book of the same name). the cinematography is beautiful and the story is beautiful, although sad at times...it's just the ultimate love story, isen't it? here are three of my favorite scenes...

does anyone else love this movie too, or am i just a hopeless romantic?

-------

my favorite comedy/movie from this year has to be Step Brothers. see for yourself!

i can't wait till this comes out on DVD!

thanks for suggesting this theme today Hokey! check out the blog roll over at Three Buttons to see who's playing.

this is...

when i was younger, i wanted to be a ton of things when i grew up. i would sit there and day dream about my future job. it seems though, as i got older, what i wanted to be would change. first i wanted to become a zoologist cause gosh! i loved animals and learning about them. then i wanted to be a professional soccer player; to play for the US national team in the Olympics and the World Cup (that never happened!). in high school, when i joined the yearbook class, my love of photography started, so i stayed in that for about three years. then when i joined the journalism class my senior year, i wanted to be a journalist...then a photo journalist...and that was it for a long time...until now. yea, i still want to be a professional photographer one day, but this crafting thing is really the bee's knees for me. ever since taking my mom's sewing machine for hostage last Christmas (don't get me wrong, i've always been crafty in other areas, i used to sit in my bedroom and make picture frames out of cardboard and origami paper), i've been hooked...hard.

i love this crafty/bloggy community. and i have respect for everyone out there who is doing what they love. and although i'm not living off of my crafts yet, this is what i want to do. so now if you ask me what i want to be when i grow up, i'll probably say...i want to be happy when i grow up. i want to be happy in whatever it is that i decide to do...which is probably along the lines of photography or crafting...and maybe something to do with kids...or all of the above. i don't know, all i know is that i want to be happy. and that's all that matters.

thanks Cindy, for helping figure out what i want to be when i grow up.

...Paramore...

i've been listening to this band since '05, and i absolutely love them (yes, i'm not afraid to admit it). the front-woman has an ammmmazing voice and their live shows are entertaining and energetic. here's a video of my favorite song from their recent album. enjoy!

This is...

this is my favorite children's book!

i'm pretty sure i've mentioned this book before. but i just love the message it gives out to kids. it's about a boy who looks like Lincoln (obviously). everyone teases him and he doesn't fit in. well, his parents send him to a camp for the summer to meet other kids that were special like him. and you probably know the rest, he learns to love himself and his features and appreciates his uniqueness, as well as others. whew! not only do i love the book itself, i also love the quirky illustration.

he got to meet new friends at camp

i think that's what draws me to children's books. this week's theme is right up my alley since i have a small collection of children's books (i pretty sure i've mentioned this also) that i'm working on expanding. i'm always looking for new books, any suggestions? Potty Mouth Mama!

here's a peek at my collection!

This is...

this is how i like to spend my weekend...

(crickets chirping...)

that's right, a big fat nothing! ideally, i would love to stay in bed all day watching Weeds and eating a huge bowl of this...

Sundae, originally uploaded by Carter Henricks.

i guess i could really do that, but usually my weekends consists of sleeping in late and staying in my jammies while doing a little bit of everything: cleaning, crafting, catching up on some tv time and hanging out with Remy and CJ. lately though, i've been fortunate enough to have the chance to hang out with some good friends.

poolside

playing a little bit of Boonsball (that's right world, we got a little thing called Boonsball. it's wiffle ball with a drink in hand at all times)

or dancing the night away!

what do YOU like to do on the weekends? thanks for your suggestions Bird Bath!

this is my work in progress...

it's my project for the art show coming up this saturday. i'm not nearly as close to being finished as i'd like to be, but it's definitely coming along. (i have to submit it by the 12th!!!!) i can't show/tell you what the finished product will be just yet, so feel free to take a guess. i promise to stop being a negligent blogger and post a picture once finished. really, i promise!

this theme is from [kept in a jar] and as always, check out the players here!

This is...

...my trade secret. i carry my baby with me everywhere i go. (shh! i bought it for myself as a birthday gift back in March!) i just got a pretty nice neoprene case from ZING for it the other day, thanks to Lacey for the recommendation. we are twinzies now!

some how, i still get pretty good shots with this baby even though i am the world's slowest photographer. have you noticed i like flower photography? well, that's because they are stationary.

anywho, i hope this counts because otherwise i don't know what my other trade secret would be.

thanks to Amelia for this week's theme. and as always, thanks to Three Buttons for letting us play on Sunday. Tootles!

This is...

the newest addition to our family!!!
me wants ta go back home!

pretty eyes, huh?

we just adopted him from a really nice couple from Thurmont, Md. (i found their ad on Craigslist while on vacation after finally talking J into letting me have a kitteh.) they took in a stray cat, and she turned up preggers one day and had six kittens! they're not sure what kind of cat is the father because all of the kittens have different colors and markings, although most of them are gray and one is all black.

this chill little dude was our favorite. we wanted a kitten that would compliment Remy and her lazy ways (not bring out the brat in her), but so far we're not sure. we introduced the two after the kitty came out of his basket, while in a separate room, and held them up next to eachother. Remy was curious, but baby kitty hissed at her. hmm...right now the kitty is in a small room with a see-through babygate separating her from Remy and they seem to be very curious of each other. i did a little bit of research and i think this was probably recommended...to keep them separated until they are ok with each other, right? any suggestions? i've also heard that its better to bring a cat into a dog household rather than vise versa. so at least we are in the clear for something.

baby kitty has been home for about three hours now and hasn't eaten or used the litter (he's already litter trained). should i be worried about this? he's not interested in his toys and has just been sleeping in his basket (a gift from the couple) for the most part...probably stressed a bit.

we've been testing out some names and came up with a couple that we liked. Dinner, CJ (short for Curly Jefferson from a skit, Old Greg, from the Mighty Boosh), Cousin Crunch, or Flint (fuzzy lint ball, the only normal name). i think we're going to give it a couple of days.

are you my new mommy?

i love his fur! it doesn't know whether or not it wants to be fluffy or short! he just looks like a fuzzball.

tomorrow he will have his first vet appointment bright and early. i'm excited we finally added a cat to our home. lets see how it goes!

oh! and i'm also excited to see what Bollewangenhaptoet will chose for next week's theme.

ps - the blogging is going to stop for now. we are taking Rem to go get pampered for her birthday! she's finally 1!

This is...

...my best op shop find. i bought this sign when i was working at an antique store and now hangs above a doorway in our home. it caught my eye one day when my boss brought it down from storage, and all day while i was working, i prayed that no one was interested so i could take it home. the colorful bird was my favorite part.
this whole time (i've had it since January) i thought was the word "Wilkom" meant "Welcome" in some mid-European language...but boy was i wrong...since i'm a perfectionist, i wanted to know exactly what language it was in. after some intense Googling and asking J to help when i thought i was a family crest, i finally found out what it was (J found it actually). it turns out that it is no where near being an antique, it's a Pennsylvania Dutch hex sign (apparantly hex is a good word in PA Dutch) and as a matter of fact, you can buy it online for much cheaper than what i got it for even with a discount! so does that mean it's not from an op shop?!? anyway, this particular sign is called the "bird of paradise," and it means goodluck and welcome. surprising what a little research can do for you.

thanks to lino forest for encouraging us to look around for the thrifted things we love!

This is...

when i first saw the theme for this week's "this is..." i was a little intimidated. the truth of the matter is, i LURVE clothes! i picked this outfit as my most favorite outfit that expresses my individual style...at the moment!

i say "at the moment" because i have a ton of clothes and all of them are from different sides of the style sprectrum. you know? sometimes you feel like a hippy (you know you have that one hippy skirt), or Sport Spice, or a glamourpuss, or just plan and lazy Jane. that's why i think "funky, fresh, dressed to impress, ready to party" should be my style motto (thanks Missy Elliot. haha)

this outfit really incorporates some of my favorite things: basic tee, jeans (remember when i bashed J for wearing cut-off short?! i'm such a hypocrite, but i love them now!), and a hat. i love this funky straw hat from Billabong that i got from Florida last summer, although i 0nly wear it every once in a while cause it's hard to pair it up (but i had to have it!).

in the summer, i'm usually a flip-flop kind of gal, but i felt like Chucks really pull the whole outfit together. now if i had a pair of plain black flats, i would have paired that with the outfit. i have quite a collection of flats in my closet actually, in a few different colors, but no plain black ones cause i'm drawn to bright colors and prints. hmm? time for new shoes? speaking of new shoes, these are the newest addition to my flats collection...

i got these a couple of weeks ago for less than $10! what a steal!

yikes! i think i've rambled on too much! anyways, thanks to Kitty's Kaboodle for this week's theme! i loved it!

This is...the space in which i create!

this is my creative corner, if you will. it's located in the "ugly room" (the middle room in our apartment with gray wall paneling, brown linoleum floors, and yellow chandeliers), but sometimes my work spills into the living room and the coffee table. here's a couple of closeups...

friends and family...gotta keep them close!

some of my softies and others that help me get inspired

...but the truth is...this is REALLY were i create...literally!

a table right in the middle of the dang room! my sewing machine that used to be in the corner (on the computer table in the first picture) has taken up a space at the table. i sew, cut, glue, measure, stuff, and trace in this table. i wanted to keep in the way it actually looked instead of cleaning it so you can see how i work. i'm terrible at being organized. hey, i'm only human, but a crafty one!

thanks to Three Buttons for allowing me to join and hosting this fun meme. and another thanks to Quiltingmick to picking the theme! i can't wait till next week!
