birthday extravaganza!

Remy's birthday has been full of activities. i took her for some healthy breakfast at Mellow Moods where she got to sit on the table and nosh on a bowl of fruit. she ran around for a bit after ingesting all that sugar and came home for a cat nap. then we took her to the river for a refreshing swim on a hot day where she ran around some more and even sunbathed with the girls!















what can i say? i'm just a dog lady and she's just so dang cute!

Labor Day weekend in photos

bonfires means fall is just around the corner. after the opening a few of us enjoyed the night cozying up to the warmth of the flames.


Lacey and i were roommies once again. since the weather was so beautiful, we kept the doors open for some fresh air and sunshine. "getting some Vitamin D"

no slumber party would be complete without pedicures. i was definitely judged when we took Remy to the market. oh well.


while we were walking around town, i got some love...guess i looked like i could have used some.


finally enjoyed wedding favors from a wedding that i was second shooting. their last name was, Lego...get it?!?


one of my oldest friends, DJ, decided to take up photography so we took a little walk around town. he just started a photo blog! i'm so very proud of him!


Deej and i lucked out when Gillian agreed to come on a walk with us. she's a beauty.

and speaking of friends and blogs, my friend Vincenzo started a blog too! SYNONYMIE is fashion, music, photography, and film all rolled into one!

Foto Fun Friday: cat lady

i have been quite the cat lady lately, obsessing over whether or not CJ will be sleeping next to me and wanting to pet him all the time. trust me, it hasn't always been like this. CJ and i have a love/hate relationship. we didn't like each other for the longest time! he used to bite and scratch me so we would generally stay away from each other. now things have changed, and i don't know if it has anything to do with us moving to a new place or what, but he has just been a sweet heart (of course Remy is still my baby girl!).

since he's been more affectionate, i've been obsessed with photographing him...mostly cause he hates being photographed. i caught him all sprawled out on our bed the other night (this cat loves to spread out!), so i couldn't help myself. and of course, since CJ has been getting all of the attention, Remy is more neurotic than ever. she just can't let him be in the lime light.

it's been three years.

seriously, i'm not trying to get all sappy sookie on you guys...but i must say this...

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY J!

sooo soft!

for the New Year, i made Remy a dog bed. i made it out of J's old thermal t's and some really really soft fleece. i really should have made it square shaped instead of human pillow shape (i really don't know what i was thinking! she can only fit on it in one direction), but she seems to love it.


(this may not have been her good side. haha)

i stuffed it with fabrics a scraps that i've accumulated from projects...and even friend's projects and toped it with poly fil. let me tell you, this pillow is stinkin soft!!! i even thought about using it as my own pillow (well, my best friend used it last night actually), but Remy took an immediate liking to it. as soon as i've saved enough scraps, more will be made for sure!!!

if you build it...

and that's what i did. i finally cleaned the studio today, i mean, i got one thing accomplished...so i thought why not. let's build a fort!


it has everything i need...books, tissues, blankets, pillows...


and Remy loves it!


and J even came to visit!

i've just had the craziest urge to build one (i know, i'm 24 and still building a fort?). i guess i miss hanging out with C in the fort that we built together. plus, i've always wanted a reading nook, so this is perfect!! it's going to stay up for a whole week (unless my cat ruins the party and crashes it)! come join!

procrastinating

i have no idea what to do with myself now that i'm on winter break (working with little C). i had planned on cleaning the studio (in dire need!), but after grabbing a smoothie with Lacey and some of our friends this morning (she's visiting from France!), all i want to do is built a cozy fort in my living room and snuggle up with Remy.

i decided to check my email, then got sidetracked...which led to browsing through numerous beautiful and inspiring pictures. now i want to share:

if you're wondering why Remy has a yarn pom pom on her head. it's because i'm actually working on a side project (slowly). i was reading the Bleubird blog (hearts, hearts, hearts!!!), and feel in love with the cuddly D.I.Y. pom pom wreath. i mean, look at it!! i just want to cuddle with it!!

Ms. James made the tutorial SUPA easy!! so really, anyone could do it! i am working on it a little at a time (making the pom poms at the restaurant while we are slow)...so i should be done by Christmas...ok, ok, by Thanksgiving.

well, i hope everyone has a good Friday. i am feeling under the weather, AGAIN, so i'm am keeping myself medicated. it's going to be a busy weekend for me. tonight, J and i are treking down to Baltimore to see Dan Auerbach's solo show (frontman of the Black Keys). J is super stoked because he loves them ...he has been talking about this show forever! i am excited about his opening act Jessica Lea Mayfield. i hope i feel better by the time we get there. who wants to feel lousy during a show! i know i don't!!! Sunday, my cousin Kelly is coming over! and i am scheduled to have a photo shoot with my friend and her dogs. CUTE! i'm a little nervous because i've never had to deal with people and pets at the same time (except J and Remy, but they are easy).

my shedule is hectic right now with work (s), crafting (Handmade Holiday Shop-n-Stroll), and photography (totally taking off, i just booked another session for the following weekend, and i think i will be helping my favorite local photographer with her shoot the weekend after that! woo!), but i feel so blessed! i feel thankful for the support system that i have and the opportunities life has been throwing my way. tired and stressed or not, this is good for me. (sorry to get so mushy all of the sudden)

...is back! i have a love for photography...i guess you can figure that out...and on top of that, i really really love fisheye photographs. a couple of years ago, had a love affair with my Lomo fisheye camera. on Monday, i got a fisheye/wide angle adapter for my lense,
and now that affair continues!

i pretty much took all of my pictures with the adapter on. hope you'll like it when i post about it!)

oh the weather!

i feel super exhausted today. i woke up an hour past my alarm (yikes) and i am feeling kind of sluggish. hmph!


i finally got a chance to upload some TTV photographs that i took (i definitely got some strange looks and questions about the contraption) on my day trip to DC. below are some of my faves.

and if you're wondering why i spent the day there, it's because your's truly is an Artomatic 2009 artist this year! remember when J and i accidentally found out about Artomatic during my Alexandria photo shoot last year? well, i promised myself i was going to do it this year, whether it be through photography or plush...and i am!

on sunday i had orientation and site selection, so afterwards i decided to visit a few museums afterwards...and it was a blast! i got lost in the National Gallery a couple of times while trying to find my way out and i even chilled at the 'pool' in the Sculpture Garden.


i have to work my first shift (that's how Artomatic is ran, each participant is required to sign up for three shifts of work) in a couple of weeks...maybe i'll make another day trip out of it. hmm
