Coast to Cote: week 22

Pang: This week is my last week with the kiddos until fall. It's the first time we will spend the summer apart in three years, and quite frankly, I am beside myself. Since yesterday was a gorgeous day, we took the opportunity to have a fancy tea party, grab lunch in town, took lots of pictures, and walked to the park (our favorite things to do together). Our last day together is rather gloomy (kind of like how I'm feeling at the moment) so we are watching movies (which we hardly do!), eating popcorn, and having a pizza party. Yay!

Lacey: This weekend I went to visit my grandparents on their little farm out in Poolsville, MD. It was nice to catch up with them and wander around the property with my brother for a bit. My grandfather has a bit of a hoarding "problem." He has piles and piles of old rusted metal scraps and wires and odd objects all over the place. I think it drive my grandmother a little crazy, but it makes for an interesting walk. Every time I would stop to photograph some pile of junk or some old box with a farm logo printed on it Garrett (my brother) would say to himself "I just don't understand you people, you photographers, and I never will."

Coast to Cote: week 12

week 12 is here! for those of you who are just tuning in, you can read about how this project came to be here. remember, there are no themes so we pretty much have free reign to photograph anything and put it together. lately (with exception to last week) things are been extra creepy with our pictures matching up like we had a theme going or something. this week, our photographs are on opposite spectrums...day/night!



Moi: This is the week for Cherry Blossoms to bloom at it's fullest...at least that's what the Post says. In Shepherdstown, Cherry Blossom trees are sprinkled throughout, mostly in people's backyards where I can't just wander in for a quick snap. Today was the first beautiful day in a little while. It was rather windy, but I didn't mind it too much since it was blowing all the clouds and the ickiness out of this area. I went for a little stroll and rested underneath this blossom tree. It was perfect. The wind was blowing it's delicate little pedals (you can slightly tell in the photograph), but they held on for dear life!

Lacey: I have been excessively tired this weekend (maybe one of those darn kids gave me a virus) so I have been sleeping at odd hours and awake at times I should be asleep. It rained almost all this week and the clouds (both white and puffy and dark and rainy) have been moving through Limoges night and day. One night while I was awake when I should have been sleeping I opened my window to snap this.

hello yellow!

it's been all sunshine, warm weather, and sprinkles of golden yellow flowers on the ground. this type of weather is one of my favorites! warm enough for you to go sans coat and still cool enough to keep away the pestery bugs! i haven't been sleeping all that well since the big move, (perhaps it's because it's too quiet? i could hear everything in the old since it was REALLY old) so the feel of sunshine on my face is making me feel better i think. there's a whole lot going on in my corner of the world right now and i really need the boost. thank you mother nature for being so kind for the past couple of days!

last Thursday, J took me on a tour of his hometown. first, we went to a really neat antique place called the Antique Association where there was a lot of unique things. some have been there (according to J) since he was little.

out back, we found an old dilapidated double decker bus
and a bench to sit on next to a little creek .

later on, we tried to go Letterboxing, but was fruitless, even though we tried several times and found the spot where it was supposed to be...so now it's 0-2.
then, he took me on a driving tour and took us to an old flour mill.

oh yea, to start the day, we went for ice cream at Nutter's! the best ice cream place ever!

oh the weather!

i feel super exhausted today. i woke up an hour past my alarm (yikes) and i am feeling kind of sluggish. hmph!


i finally got a chance to upload some TTV photographs that i took (i definitely got some strange looks and questions about the contraption) on my day trip to DC. below are some of my faves.

and if you're wondering why i spent the day there, it's because your's truly is an Artomatic 2009 artist this year! remember when J and i accidentally found out about Artomatic during my Alexandria photo shoot last year? well, i promised myself i was going to do it this year, whether it be through photography or plush...and i am!

on sunday i had orientation and site selection, so afterwards i decided to visit a few museums afterwards...and it was a blast! i got lost in the National Gallery a couple of times while trying to find my way out and i even chilled at the 'pool' in the Sculpture Garden.


i have to work my first shift (that's how Artomatic is ran, each participant is required to sign up for three shifts of work) in a couple of weeks...maybe i'll make another day trip out of it. hmm
