where have i been?
dear friends. unfortunately, i've had a string of bad luck. i've been sick for nearly a week (it's on it's way out, but man! it has been annoying!) and my computer got a virus! ICK! (it's away getting fixed as we speak) on my only day off, it has been raining and dreary. that's ok though, Meg and i have turned to the tube and started a movie marathon. we just finished watching Pan's Labyrinth and are about to watch the Big Lebowski. i'm sipping on a bubbly coke with Remy nestled in my lap, there could be nothing better right this minute.

i stumbled upon a trailer of a wonderful documentary that i'm dying to see. if it's coming to your city, it's a must see! i hope it comes to mine!

another book bites the dust
have i already mentioned that it's hard for me to finish a book? i'll start one, get bored, start another, get bored, then find a book i really like, then try to finish it...et cetera, et cetera. well, after finishing the Graveyard Book, i went back to this book...
...and finished it. rather good i must say. J actually recommended it to me (more like nagged me for months to read it cause he thought it was good...and he was right...dang). i was going to suggest it to the book club, but i'm not sure what our book club is up to right now...i'm pretty sure we've been on a hiatus.
anyway, the book is about a time traveling man who spontaneously goes back in time to meet his future wife as a child. he discovers he can time travel at a pretty young age, but doesn't go back to meet his wife (then a young girl) until his thirties...following still?...when he does finally meet her in real time (he's 28 and she's 20), he doesn't know her.
if you're still following and like what you've read so far, you should check out the book. and maybe we can even discuss it using the Group Questions in the back. but if not, you can just watch the movie i guess. it's scheduled to come out in 2010. i can't wait!!!!

I always feel like, somebody's watching me
saw the lovely film Coraline tonight. i really loved it, just as much as i loved the Nightmare Before Christmas. we didn't see the 3D version, but it's all good. either way, i still think the craftsmanship in this film is amazing.
can you believe it, a whole forest full of blossoms made from popcorn? i wished there was such a thing in real life. i'd be the happiest camper!
i just can't seem to wrap my head around all of this. these artists are incredible! do see it if you get the chance.
since we were the only people left in the theater after the movie, i decided it was time for a picture op...

sorry the pictures are a tad bit wonky, my hands aren't very still. the first picture was taken underneath the screen and the second was taken at the very top of the theater. i love how the lights turned out even though it was quite dark in there (besides the screen). i have a ton of great ideas for a photo shoot the next time i go to the movies. they better watch out!

based on a book...
i'm starting to think that all good movies are inspired by books. it started off with the Secret Life of Bees. Lacey and i went to see it in a local theater in town (they always pick very good movies to show), and that was a very good movie...granted i kept tearing up towards the end of the movie...alright! i cried, but not as bad as the woman behind us.
last night, j and i watched another movie inspired by a book called Slumdog Millionaire.

do yourselves a favor and go watch it. it was VERY good. and if you have, let me know what you think!

This is...
the Witches (based on the Rohl Dahl book) is one of my favorite movie from childhood. i love this movie because at the end, you could see all of the stuff that Luke (the main character) and his grandmother built to suit Luke's size. seeing all of the gadgets really made me want to be a mouse for a little while. i was lucky that it was also my mom's favorite so we would watch it together...ah, memories...
we both have a copy of it, but mine was VHS and it got stuck in a tv (a tv with a VHS slot) and it completely ruined the tv. now when i go thrifting or to a yard sale, i keep an eye out for it, but have been unsuccessful thus far.
-------
my favorite romantic movie is the Notebook (adapted from a Nicholas Sparks book of the same name). the cinematography is beautiful and the story is beautiful, although sad at times...it's just the ultimate love story, isen't it? here are three of my favorite scenes...
does anyone else love this movie too, or am i just a hopeless romantic?
-------
my favorite comedy/movie from this year has to be Step Brothers. see for yourself!
i can't wait till this comes out on DVD!
------
thanks for suggesting this theme today Hokey! check out the blog roll over at Three Buttons to see who's playing.

IT'S BAAACK...
our monday's sewing circle is back! Lacey and i are at it again after our two months hiatus (we started last monday). this time, we are getting ready for our very first craft show. like i've mentioned in the previous post, we have signed up for the artist part of Downtown Live. although it's more of a music thing, i'm still pretty stoked about it cause we'll be getting our names out there.
after getting off from work, i doodled around she-town for an hour waiting for Lacey to get out of class, then headed over there for our sewing session. it didn't start right away cause Lacey decided she wanted to grow up and look for a new job for a bit, then she made us an early dinner. what was it you asked?
left over corn chowder with bacon and cilantro...and Yorkshire pudding (which is totally not a pudding!!! liars!). if you like corn, this is it for you. i don't know if you can tell from the picture, but i had the crispy part of the bacon (my fave!), while Lacey took the fatty part (yuck!). we could have totally been roomies cause she can have all the fatty part she wants!
after stuffing ourselves with corn and bacon, we decided it was time to sew. we set up camp in her kitchen and took over the dinner table and sewed while watching movies. one of the movies we watched was called The Fall: a stuntman and a little girl become fast friends as they are recovering in a hospital in the 1920s when he tells her a story about 5 heros.
the movies takes you through the story and how the little girl's imagination percieves it. i absolutely loved it! the cinematography was amazing and the loved the story line, though a bit sad towards the end (i looked up and saw Lacey all teary eyed). Lacey also informed me at this movie was shot all over the world (18 to be exact!), so if you get a chance, rent it. it's definitely worth the watch. thanks Lacey!
i digressed a little...anywho, busy bee Lacey made four skinny scraves, while i worked on some winged friends.
here she is modeling one of her scraves.
like the fringe?

we worked our little butts off, so afterwards, we decided a cocktail...or two, was needed. we went to a local watering hole and ordered a few martinis: pumpkin pie, haterade, and fizzy pop drink (rimmed with pop rocks!)
