W.I.P: stinky stinky!
other than photography, i've also been trying to finish a lot of sewing...albeit mostly unsuccessful. here's what else i've been working on...

you've seen this onion before, haven't you? on Valentine's Day cards from last year i believe. well, i'm bringing it back like sexy. i'll let you guess what it's going to end up being.

Foto Fun Friday: Bon Appetit
i saw this photograph a couple of days ago (then Meaghan left me a link too) and it absolutely made me smile. i hope it does the same for you!
...i wonder how long it took just to put all of those little googly eyes on the cheerios...

nuggets, nuggets, nuggets, and more nuggets!!
Thursday is my favorite day of the week. mostly because i'm off and i could spend the day doing whatever i wanted, which is usually going somewhere with J. since he has been feeling under the weather and rested all day, i decided to spend the day sewing. i sewed, took breaks, sewed, walked into town, had a smoothie, sewed some more, annoyed J (really fun!), and sewed until we went over to his parent's house for dinner. all in day i'd say it was pretty successful. i finished more chicken nuggets, and am 75% done with more PANGUINS. yay for getting things done!

i free handed the shapes, so some of them seem a little wonky...but i think it adds to the cuteness. i'm not quite sure how i feel about the mustachio'd one though.

guess what? chicken butts!
and while we are looking at pictures, i'll show you what else i took pictures of today...

this here is Tater. she belongs to J's parents. i've been dating J for almost three years and have never EVER gotten a photograph of Taterkins...she hates the camera. everything i would point my camera her way, she would move and whine...but not today! she complied and was wonderful! perhaps it was the beautiful weather, but we will never know.

here's my handsome bearded man. J said he looks mean in this photograph, but i beg to differ. there's a little smile on that face! and then he took a picture of me being a little sassy. love this photo.
i hope your Thursday was good too. see you tomorrow for Foto Fun Friday!

Nuggets of love

the Easter 'eggs' and some friends inspired me to make plush chicken nuggets with chicken legs. i'm pretty happy with the way they came out. i am working on more and all of them will have a different shape (remember the boot looking ones? think the shape of Italy). let me know what you might think or if you have any suggestions. i want to try to devote more time to sewing now that craft fair season is right around the corner. i have lots of ideas, but would love to know you guys might like to see made into a FING?
and ps - to all you animal lovers out there, no chickens were harmed in the making of these nuggets of love.

Foto Fun Friday: Devil Eggs
in the past few days, i've been working on plush Easter eggs. i thought it would be a great idea for Easter gifts, but alas, i was bested.
after my third attempt (today), i am finally giving up. third attempt? you might ask. why yes! but i'm so embarrassed by my first egg that i'm not even going to show you. last night i made a second attempt, and the egg came out looking more like chicken nuggets. J mentioned that i should use tie-dyed fabric, so it would look more like an Easter egg, and i ended up using purple tie-dyed fleece i had in stock. the result was less than satisfactory...for me at least.

yea, it's really cute and it can actually stand up on it's own (which the other two didn't), but i don't know if it looks 'eggy' enough. hmpf!
adding to my frustration, i broke my favorite vintage saucer while i was making this thing! i might have to send it to The Broken Plate Pendant Co. now...but actually, that's a good thing. hehe. so to make the best of a frustrating situation, i posed the DEVIL EGGS with my broken saucer for a little Foto Fun Friday photograph...

darn these eggs! they look so happy while being so mischievous!

everybody loves penguin
thank you for the feedback on the penguins gang...or...PANGuins as J calls them. i've decided to keep the fins. i mean, it's just looks better all around. i took some time to finish another one (a small guy) tonight after work.

(the little one to the left)

(i stuck the pencil in there to show you their sizes without having to actually measure them. hehe)
i'm also working on other things as well...

yup, you could probably guess what these are. remember these cards from last year, i'm bringing them back!
ok, off to bed i go, it's been a loooong day.

i love sushi, i love sushi

my first plush of 2010.
have i ever mentioned that i LOVE sushi? i can eat four rolls by myself in one sitting...i consider that a lot for a girl my size...i decided to extend my love of these delicious treasure in a roll into crafting and made plush sushi! now, you might think, yea, well, a gazillion people have done it before you...and yes, i know this, but has anyone ever made a fresh crab meat asparagus and Old Bay roll? i mean, not to my knowledge!

i made this roll cause i love it! i'm thinking that it needs more though, and i'm not sure about the bigger one with the mustache...i am partial to cute and small (like Remy).
i've made some new sketches and have a few ideas up my sleeves for plushies. hope you will like them.

grubby hands
when someone with visibly dirty hands touches your stuff to cringe right? well, sometimes at these fairs, that happens. no offense to anyone, but i've been scheming up ways to package the little Fings so as to protect them from dirty grubby hands...and to make them look a little more cute.
i bought some pretty paper (think candy canes, yum!), cute them up to size, stamped it "Yummy Pins" and stapled them to a plastic baggy.

it's a little bit of extra work, but i think it will be good in the long run. that way, it keeps it from getting dirty by me too.
oh, and while we are on the subject of pins, my bacon pins are making a come back this year, with a little update.

i tried to do something fun and took lots of pictures of them in hopes of making a stop motion video...when i have a bit o time. we will see.
enjoy your Thursday!

Mr. Pickles
well, winter time for some men means growing a beard. Mr. Pickles is no exception. last time you saw him, he grew a mustache, now he has grown a whole beard!!

his beard is a little on the wavy and unruly side. especially in the morning.

in the close up, you can see the stitched mustache and the strands of different colored beard hairs. haha. kinda reminds me of J's crazy beard. hmmm.
do you think it looks like a beard?

new & better?
so i ran into an obstacle the other day at the fabric store...they didn't have the color fleece that i've been using for the sugar cookies, so i had to improvise on the spot and go with another color. there was no way i was keep looking for the fabric and waste time when Holiday Shop-n-Stroll (check out my vendor Q & A) is in two weeks!! yikes!
i chose a very very light light tan (think cream) and honestly, i don't think it turned out so bad. i mean, cause sugar cookies are pretty little in comparison to the rest, right?

these guys are a little more on the time consuming side since i sew on the beads one at a time. the little ones are ok, but the bigger cookie is a doozy! luckily, i was watching the finale of Project Runway as i was sewing, so it was all good. i really loved Carole Hanah's collection, but Irina's collection was so well put together! did you watch it? what did you think?

sick = productive
i have a hard time sitting still. it has finally taken me getting sick to sit on my butt (or lay down in this case) and taking it easy. after about an hour of laying in my bed watching a movie, i got restless and started crafting. here's what i finished, the last part to my cousin's three part prezzie.
(sorry for the sucky picture...maybe a better look tomorrow?)
